Bob Steele, Outlaw, Becomes a Sheriff
A very average Bob Steele western, with a well worn plot - town rich guy is trying to take over all the ranches illegally - with a slight twist - Steele (Billy the Kid) winds up fighting against his brother boring Carlton Young (Jeff Bonney aka Gil Cooper). Steele is headed to a Texas town where sidekick Al St. John (Fuzzy) has been waiting for him. On the way, he stops two men who are robbing a wagon carrying money and takes the money himself. In town, he finds Fuzzy has been abused by a local ranch gang and heads back to the saloon with Fuzzy and kicks ass. Decent townspeople see him thrash these bad guys and not knowing he is criminal Billy the Kid, make him sheriff. So it goes, back and forth from there. Terry Walker (Mary Barton) makes a very lovely obligatory feminine presence. The usual outlaw actors know their stuff: Frank LaRue (Jim Morgan), John Merton (Flash), Charles King (Dave) and others. After triumphing over the bad guys, Steele and St. John ride off to other adventures and Young gets the girl.
